Honda has confirmed that a new NSX sports car will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show early next year. Wearing the Acura badge of Honda's north American luxury arm, the NSX Concept is said to "represent the styling direction of Acura's super sports car". The new two-seater sports car will go on sale throughout the world and is likely to use the NSX badge in the UK when it arrives in 2013. The announcement confirms the resurection of the second-generation NSX project, which was canned due to the recession. Honda had developed various engine options for the Nissan GT-R rival including an F1-style V10, but with the financial crisis squeezing the supercar market, Honda turned the road car into a racing version in 2009. The new NSX is set to use a 400bhp V6 hybrid powertrain with the petrol engine mounted in the middle and a pair of electric motors at the front, along with a development of Honda's Super-Handling-All-Wheel-Drive-System (SH-AWD). The look of the new car is expected to be influenced by a mysterious concept car which will appear in the new Avengers movie. The revival of the NSX will be met positively as the original has developed a cult following. It went on sale back in 1990 and was designed to beat the performance of the Ferrari 348 – its rival at the time – but also offer reliability and everydary useability. Its chassis was developed with the assistance of Ayrton Senna. In addition, Honda will show off the Acura ILX Concept at Detroit – a styling study of a new luxury small saloon which will launch in spring 2012 in the US. This new entry-level model will have three engine choices, including a hybrid. Acura will also reveal a prototype of the 2013 RDX, a US-only five-seater SUV. Finally, it will unveil the Accord Coupe Concept, which shows off the design direction of the next US Accord.
Se pare ca va iesi la vanzare in urmatorii 3 ani (asta poate insemna orice) si nu va fi mai ieftin de 100.000 de verzisori...
"NSX’s Return
Acura also plans other, more expensive models as it revamps its lineup.
A concept version of the NSX, Acura’s two-seat supercar that left the line five years ago, will also be shown in Detroit. A concept version of the RL, Acura’s current top-end sedan, will be shown in New York in April, Poponi said.
The mid-engine NSX is to be the brand’s “halo” model, equipped with a new “sport hybrid all-wheel-drive” system for high-performance driving and fuel-efficiency, said Gary Evert, division leader for Acura research and development.
The NSX should go on sale “within three years” and probably can’t be sold for “less than $100,000,” Tetsuo Iwamura, Honda’s chief operating officer for North America, said in an interview in Las Vegas, without elaborating."

The Honda NSX supercar is set to return as a 400bhp four-wheel-drive hybrid. Honda has already confirmed that a new NSX will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January, and now we have more information on the Japanese Audi R8 rival.
We’ve already seen spy shots of a concept car on the set of the new Avengers movie, and we’ve since had confirmation that the Detroit show car will be heavily based on that model. Our images show a coupe, but the final production version will also be offered as a roadster.
The concept will be shown as an Acura – the firm’s luxury North American arm – but it will be badged as a Honda when it arrives in the UK, and retain its forebear’s NSX name. Power will come from a 3.5-litre V6 driving one axle and a pair of in-wheel electric motors to turn the other. This will give the NSX four-wheel-drive traction and 400bhp-plus. Performance will be impressive, with 0-62mph taking under five seconds.
For full details on the new NSX, including how the hybrid powertrain will be adapted to suit the project, check out this week’s Auto Express magazine.

Titlu: Behold: the new Honda NSX
The Honda NSX is back. And just like the original this is not just a sledgehammer supercar clone, but a fascinating, intriguing contemporary take on the genre.
OK, this is only a concept, unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show – and for geographical reasons it’s also called an Acura. The real thing is three years off. That time gap allows the engineers to be maddeningly non-specific about some of the details (like, er power, or indeed engine size). But the designers are promising it’ll look very much like this.
Good. It’s sharp, dramatic without being flashy, and refreshingly compact – actually shorter than the original. It’s edgier than the original too, as the passing years dictate. But it’s still got a few sly nods to its father, like the rear lights, and the overall proportions.
Under the skin, there’s a high-revving V6 engine, mid-mounted. That feeds a double-clutch transmission. So far, so predictable. But there’s more: it’s a hybrid.
Calm down at the back. It’s not the sort of hybrid that’ll throw a wet blanket over your inner tyre-melter. As Honda’s boss Takanobu Ito, says: “The NSX will enhance dynamic driving abilities without getting in the way.” And he should know. He was an important engineer on the first NSX, and he’s driven the decision to make a new one.
So there are two little electric motors at the front of the car, one for each wheel. That means independent drive to each wheel, and the ability to tighten or loosen the car’s cornering line for very effective torque vectoring. Meanwhile another electric motor is embedded in the gearbox to enhance the V6’s power.
It’ll be able to reclaim braking energy like any hybrid, so it’ll be efficient on fuel. But it’ll also have extra performance and supernatural cornering. In fact Ito said they’ll very likely make a racing version too.
Weight distribution should be good, with the engine and battery pack both mid-mounted. And in line with NSX principles of old (it was the first aluminium sports car), they promise overall weight will be low.
Of course the new NSX enters a very different world than the one the first one entered in 1990. Back then Ferraris were dramatic but a bit flaky – unreliable, heavy to drive and a bit evil-handling. The NSX made the Italians pull their socks up and build cars you could rely on, and use daily. So the new car has got some very hard competition.
But one virtue of the original car is even more relevant today: it was light and efficient, and concentrated on power to weight rather than absolute power. That’s what the new one will do too, albeit by different and rather 21st century means.
