Quote:no pics as we were told we would be sacked if phones are not in lockers ect...tis like the sedan in america sort of. bit insighty on the front bumper and accord-ish front lights. daytime running lights ect.. rear is fat.
2.2 derv was built and its meant to be faster than the last one. but thats just what i was told. small derv coming later. could hardly get to the car to build it..too many people around it lol
Quote:i think honda are building more cars similar for all markets to keep cost down, not sure if japans will be the same as usa or eudm. petrol engines will be avalible too. 1.4 and 1.8 more than likely. and a 1.6 derv so im told.
this car is a try build ,so just a car to see if it can be built ok. there will be loads of small builds of each model 2-3 cars then batches of 10-20 ect..before mass production in oct/nov.
some are used for crash tests lol. so no this will be not used apart from being looked over by the new model teams to check fitment of parts ect.
,only 1 car built today

Take a look at the new 2012 Honda Civic, spotted in a very unusual location. Normally, prototypes for new models are spied at test tracks in Europe, but eagle-eyed reader Gareth Parsons grabbed this picture in the middle of Piccadilly Circus!
The fact that the Civic has been caught in the UK means engineers are making sure that its suspension set-up is optimised for UK roads. Despite the Civic being built in Swindon, most development work usually takes place at the firm's R&D centre in Germany, so it's obvious Honda is keen for the Civic to be on a par with the new FordFocus
and latest VW Golf when it comes to handling and ride comfort.
As for the way it looks, this new five-door hatchback prototype may be covered in disguise, but this picture does show that the latest car features a similar silhouette to the current Civic. Under the skin, expect it to receive a round of mild updates, including sharper lights front and rear and a bolder grille in the nose, as well as revised bodywork. Expect Honda to tweak the rear of the car by removing the rear spoiler which obscures rear visibility, and adding a rear window wiper.
The front-wheel drive platform will be carried over from the current car with an updated range of small petrol VTEC engines and a diesel. Expect stop-start to be standard across the line-up. Although US specification Civics get a multi-link rear suspension set-up, European models are likely to continue with a torsion beam arrangement as it is more compact and allows for more rear seat space and luggage room.
Expect to see the new Civic at a major motor show later this year, with sales starting in 2012.
Overseas, the Honda Civic is a rakish hatchback available in three- and five-door bodystyles, as well as a high-performance Type R variant with more than 180 horsepower on tap. The vehicle seen in these latest spy shots depict this ‘global’ Civic, although its modified state suggests it is in fact a test-mule for the next-generation model due in late 2011 as a 2012 model.
The latest images depict a car much closer to the final stages of design, without cabling and wires sticking out at odd places. Instead, it's a sleek hatchback with fairly generous side cladding to hide the flares and character lines that no doubt run the length of the car. The overall size appears to be slightly wider and longer than the current Civic, meaning interior space should grow accordingly.
The earlier test-mule was wearing the new model’s bumpers and features an elevated hood, either to fit a new engine or test equipment. The wheelbase looks to be the same, although we can clearly see that the rear fenders are slightly wider than on the current car.
Not much else is known about the car but there are rumors that a new three-cylinder engine option will join the four-cylinder range. There’s also word that the hybrid system from the recently revealed CR-Z Hybrid will make it into the new Honda Civic.
As for the local version of the Civic, not much is known but an all-new model is expected to debut around the late 2011-early 2012 mark as well.
