Titlu: Honda’s Remaining Concept Cars for Tokyo Revealed

Two concepts complete the trio of eye-catching cars to be laid bare by Honda at the Tokyo Motor Show.

City cars of the future will play a dominant role at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, and following previews of Nissan, Suzuki, and earlier today Honda's Small Sports EV Concept, we can bring you pictures and limited information about their two other car concepts, namely the AC-X Concept and Micro Commuter Concept. In regards to the latter, the diminutive commuter vehicle was developed in collaboration with Honda's motorcycle division, and has been described as an electric city commuter.

In the future it's envisioned that it will become a highly accessible form of mobility for an increasing number of people. Dual joystick controllers allow either of the two occupants to maneuver the vehicle that's powered by two electric motors and that can house Honda's Motor Compo two-wheel concept electric bike. It also features a customizable exterior and external display via which communication with the outside world is possible. The AC-X Concept is a next-generation plug-in vehicle that Honda says offers 'comfortable and enjoyable driving in urban and long-distance motoring,' with two modes available for a more relaxed or more spirited driving experience.

The 'engine' mode engages the installed internal combustion engine and electric drive system resulting in maximum performance; and the 'automatic' mode utilizes both depending on the load.A 1.6-liter gasoline engine is paired with an electric motor on the plug-in hybrid drivetrain, and with a full tank and a single complete charge, more than 620 miles should be possible at a staggering 100mpg.

That shit has GOT to fly!

Titlu: Honda E-Canopy Three-Wheel Scooter Concept

Honda has just unveiled their latest concept, the golf car, nay, three-wheeled scooter.

Honda is keeping their unveiling of concepts at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show going, this time with a Hoveround-ish scooter.Sitting on three wheels, the E-Canopy concept could be used for personal transportation or short-travel delivery excursions. However it looks more suited to sitting around inside a department store and waiting for an overweight or geriatric customer to take it down the aisles.

Officially known as the Honda E-Canopy, the electric trike features optional trunk space or possibly a place to stash your golf clubs the next time you hit the links. It has a large Plexiglas windshield that will cover your head in the midst of a light drizzle on a cool spring morning and if your friend wants a lift somewhere, they are out-of-luck as it only has seating for one.Check out the photos of Honda's latest unveiling and let us know what you think about the E-Canopy electric concept.

Titlu: Honda Micro Commuter Car Concept Arrives

Honda is arriving in full force at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. Check out the new city car concept from the Japanese automaker.

Honda has just released their latest in a long line of concept cars at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. The Honda Micro Commuter Concept is certainly an innovative little EV designed specifically for city travel. The city car concept is highly futuristic and has a unique design. Along with what appears to be faux stained-glass on the doors, it features room for three people - a driver in the center and a small bench for two passengers in the back.

Three may not seem like a lot, however for a car that is a half-foot shorter than a Smart fortwo, it is quite impressive. What's more is that it can fit the Honda Motor Compo inside it as well. As a quick refresher, it is a small box with wheels and handlebars that acts as an electric bike. The Micro Commuter Car Concept also has covered wheels, designed for both aerodynamics and safety. It can also serve as an electric power source and utilizes something called "twin lever steering." Is that better than a steering wheel? Guess we'll find out. See more of the futuristic little car in the photo gallery.Photos courtesy of autoevolution.

Titlu: Report: Honda to Build Production Car Based on the EV-STER Concept

Honda is planning a production car using the impressive EV-STER concept as inspiration.

Honda unveiled their impressive EV-STER electric concept vehicle at the Tokyo Auto Show last month, and according to a report from German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, a production car will soon make its way to market based on the concept.Honda CEO Takanobu Ito told the magazine that his company's biggest challenge is to reduce their CO2 emissions, so producing an EV would certainly make sense in order to keep those numbers down across their range.

He confirmed a new roadster-styled EV sports car based on the highly-acclaimed concept is in the works and may even include a gasoline-powered version. As we reported from Tokyo, the EV-STER concept ran on a 10kWh lithium-ion battery which allowed it to travel from 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds and reach a top speed of over 100mph. Range was also estimated at 100 miles.Though no timetable has been set for the new production model's release, Auto Motor und Sport say it could arrive in the U.S. as early as 2013 and overseas by next year.
